The harbor and me

This morning I was all the way on the other side of the city to take photos of a very heavy theaterperformance called Stuk, by Theatergroep Siberia. It was for kids, so it took place at a school. I’d seen it before so I could concentrate on just doing my job, but seeing some of those kids cry… damn, it was hard to not get sucked in again.

As I walked home at the end of the day, I remembered I had my camera on me so I decided to take the scenic route through the harbor and take some shots. It had been a while, and I can’t believe how quickly you forget what brings you so much joy. Taking photos brings me an awful lot of joy, so I’m glad I took the long way home. Well, come to think of it, it’s actually a shortcut. But taking photos obviously slows you down so in the end it is the long way home. But that’s ok, it’s all worth it! Threw in a daily selfportrait as well, so it was definitely a win-win-win situation!

I so need to do that too, sometimes I just want to get home so fast, I forget there is so much to be seen on the journey home. Maybe once it warms up I will be more willing to walk instead of bus and zip right by all that might be a picture perfect morning.
