For the first time since the arrival of The Little One, I attended a workshop at one of my favorite places, Elle Aime. This time, illustrator Cebine Nieuwenhuize taught us how to make illustrated taxidermy bugs and beetles. Yes, you read it correctly! Even though I’m always quite frightened to draw people, animals, flowers or anything that actually has to look like the real thing, I really enjoyed myself. I chose some sort of dragonfly, and with sweat on my forehead and the utmost concentration, I started drawing.
When we were done illustrating, we cut out our bugs or beetles and like the real thing, stuck them on a background with two pins and framed it. I know, it’s not exactly the real thing, but hey, at least no animals were harmed during the proces! I’ve got to say, I’m pretty impressed with my original piece of art, if I may say so myself. Thanks Cebine and Lisa, for a great afternoon!
